Spring time fun

Although we did have another snow day this week (don't get me started), for the most part the weather has been lovely.

We've been able to go to the pond a couple times already and we ventured further to a place on the river.

As we were walking along, Kyler saw some fish swimming upstream so we took a closer look and the Herring were running.  It was fun to watch them swimming upstream  - there was a board telling how they swim all the way from the ocean to the headwaters to leave their eggs.  Nature is so awesome.

We found a turtle - brought him home to show Stuart and then heard for 3 days about the evils of parents that don't let children keep animals from the wild.  He was a cute guy.

I can't believe we have been here long enough that I am looking forward to certain things.  I am looking forward to the 4th of July on the beach, the walks along the plimouth shoreline and the evening baseball games.

I can't believe how much we've changed in a year.  I feel domesticated, Kyler has chilled out, Adderly is becoming such a sweet young woman and McKye is growing into a little man.  I am so thankful for all the blessings I enjoy.  At this time of year the renewal just lifts my spirits and I am thankful once again for the seasons and the change we get to see not only around us but in us.

Happenings and updates

Okay so I get caught up in my diatribe, but I sometimes just miss the daily happenings.  So update on family.

Stuart is really enjoying his job.  I admire him so much he gets up early and just goes to it.  I always seem to have other things on my mind or want to do something else, he just stalwartly presses on.  He was so lucky to find a job close to home, his drive is only 15 minutes.  We are adjusting to a 2 parent working household.  He's let up the reigns and allowed me in the kitchen and he's learning that every snow day is no longer a ski day.  I'm so proud of his strength and growth.

Nisha is getting into a good routine at work, making friends and getting more connected to families.  She misses the babies in the hospital but seeing them a couple of days later in clinic is almost as sweet.  She's working to make friends and has met some amazing women in the ward with such diverse backgrounds - food for fodder for her inner workings and musings.

Kyler is so excited to get into an agricultural high school - he interviewed this month and we should hear in a couple of weeks.  Such an amazing school, if you get a chance look up Bristol Aggie.  They have an indoor horse arena, a small animal area where they learn to take care of animals that will help with science research, a large animal area where they learn about horses, cows, farming etc..., a landscaping area where they get to learn how to run all sorts of tractor equipment and his favorite: an animal resource area where they learn about animal habitat and conservation.

Adderly is just amazing.  She is basically getting straight A's with no help from mom (to my chagrin as I know she is going to fly on her own just fine without me).  She is in the school play: Peter Pan that performed this weekend.  We have all started Karate together as a family (in true form when have we ever not done everything together) and she is actually really good - she gets the stances just right. Somehow she doesn't love being Kyler's partner though - I'll let you figure that one out.

McKye is so sweet, I think maybe a little too sweet.  He makes all the girls laugh and smile in school.  He likes to be the teacher and will come up with games at recess, sticker charts - he just makes me laugh.  He has made a couple of good friends, one that is close so nice for the drive.  He is learning to stand up for his standards by explaining what video games we don't play, what words we don't say.  He is quite impressionable so it is a lot of talking and explaining on mom's part, but through the Lords' help I think he is going to become quite a strong young man.

The church is a source of peace and hope in our lives.  We have a wonderful group of friends that of course feels like family.  We had a wonderful thanksgiving with the Thackers' who have adopted us as the newest Utah transplant.  We spent New Years with the Laws - Lauren is swiftly becoming one of my go to people for all things deep thinking - she is the most christ like person I have seen.  She sees all men as God sees them and helps me curb by cynic side.

In short as the spring approaches we are getting excited for new beginnings and settling into our new life here.
